MEMORY LOCATION

2022

Mixed Media Installation, 200 x 180 cm, 2022

“Memory Location” is a meditation on what remains when time passes. The installation confronts viewers with the duality of destruction and preservation. The salvaged windows from a “Belle Epoque” building in Lucerne's old town stand for the memories we preserve, while the animal skeletons embody the transience of life. The spray paint on the canvas acts as a symbol of the perpetual quest for new expression and understanding, even in the midst of decay. In this installation, the space itself becomes a repository of memories, a place where past and present merge and the fragility of life in all its facets becomes palpable.

My background as an art historian and monument conservator has had a profound effect on the “Memory Location” installation. Through my expertise and personal experiences, I create a connection between past and present in this installation that invites viewers to reflect on the themes of memory, transience and identity. My artistic journey becomes the centerpiece of the installation and illustrates how art can serve as a medium for exploring history and personal transformation.
