A SICILIAN MYTH

2023

A Sicilian woman and an Arab fall in love. When the Arab wants to leave the woman, she beheads him with a sword. She plants a basil in the head, which thrives very well. This is the Sicilian myth. It also appears in the Bible. And in Boccaccio's Decamerone. Since then, Ceramic heads commemorate the two of them all over Sicily.
