IDENTITÄTEN IN BEWEGUNG
2024
I am showing the photograph „DEAREST UNICORN - RAINBOW COAT“, 179 x 120 cm, print on poster paper, 2023, at the SGBK exhibition „ARTistik - Identitäten in Bewegung“, November 14-23, 2024 at Kunstraum Winterthur.
On Sunday, November 17, I will be taking part in an artist talk with art historian Ursula Meyer starting at 2 pm
First of all, here are my thoughts on this work:
The fascination with unicorns has deep roots in art history, especially in the Middle Ages. My photo series „Dearest Unicorn, or: How to Catch a Unicorn“ was created in 2023 with Anne, a passionate unicorn fan and perfect muse.
The photo series is divided into eight chapters. The title pays homage to the medieval notion that only a virgin can catch a unicorn - a new, tongue-in-cheek interpretation of purity and innocence.
The image shown here is from the chapter „Rainbow Coat“, which explores the modern meaning of the unicorn in connection with diversity and tolerance.
With my photo series, I invite you to reflect on the peaceful symbolism of the unicorn and use it as inspiration for a better reality - for all people
